 Antic Hospitality Group Enters Administration

Antic Hospitality Group Enters Administration

Posted by Emma on 17th Jul 2024

A collection of 13 beloved pubs and bars in South and East London, part of the Antic hospitality group, have entered administration. This portfolio includes well-known establishments such as the Balham Bowls Club, Dogstar in Brixton, and the Tooting Tram & Social, each with its own unique charm and history. Steve Absolom and Will Wright from Interpath Advisory were appointed joint administrators for Elflock Limited, Babel Silk Limited, Brocade Limited, and De Gremio Limited at the end of last week.

The list of affected venues features:

  • The Antelope, SW17
  • Balham Bowls Club, SW12
  • Clapton Hart, E5
  • East Dulwich Tavern, SE22
  • Elephant and Castle, SE1
  • Hagen & Hyde, SW12
  • The Sun, SE5
  • Gremio de Brixton, SW2
  • Graveney & Meadow, SW17
  • Dogstar, SW9
  • Tooting Tram & Social, SW17
  • Red Lion, E11
  • Coopers, SE19

Additionally, Babel Silk Limited owns three more sites that are currently non-operational.

The administrators revealed several sites had been grappling with financial burdens from the pandemic. Recently, winding-up petitions were filed against Elflock Limited and Brocade Limited, exacerbating the financial strain.

Managing director at Interpath Advisory, Steve Absolom, commented on the situation, stating, "This is an eclectic collection of well-known and popular pubs and bars located in prime sites across South London. The sites are expected to continue to trade as usual with the support of specialist trading agents at Licensed Solutions."

He added, "We intend to bring these units to market in due course, representing a fantastic opportunity for investors and trade purchasers alike."

This development marks a significant moment for London's hospitality industry, reflecting the ongoing impact of the pandemic on legacy liabilities. The continuation of trade and the forthcoming sale presents a potential revival for these historic sites, offering promising prospects for new investors and a potential renaissance for London's hospitality scene.
