Itsu, the Asian-inspired fast food chain founded by Julian Metcalfe, has unveiled its ambitious plans to double its UK portfolio. To achieve this, the company has partnered with Savills, a renowned property consultancy. With an existing network of 80 stores, Itsu is set to significantly expand, with a focus on London and new locations across the country.
The expansion strategy will prioritise the development of 'temple' flagship stores. These stores are intended to enhance and expand Itsu's dine-in experiences and will be situated in prominent city centres known for high levels of spending and foot traffic. These areas typically attract shoppers, office workers, tourists, students, and residents.
Kate Thompson, Itsu's property director, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, stating, "At Itsu, we are focused on making the joy of delicious, healthier, Asian-inspired food available to everyone across the UK and beyond. We look forward to working with Savills to help us deliver on our plan for growth."
Savills, a leading national property consultancy, is equally optimistic about the collaboration. Matthew Brown, director of retail at Savills Bristol, said, "We look forward to working with Itsu on its growth strategy as the brand looks to increase its presence across the UK. As the only national property consultancy with retail and leisure teams based across the UK, we are excellently positioned to deliver many exciting opportunities for Itsu."
Founded by Julian Metcalfe, who also co-founded the successful Pret a Manger sandwich chain, Itsu made its debut with a store in London's Chelsea. The brand's expansion beyond London began in 2013 with a restaurant in Oxford. Backed by private equity firm Bridgepoint, Itsu has since established a presence in several international locations, cementing its position as a key player in the retail industry.
