Broader Food Safety Advice for Your Menu

Beyond Ceres, if you are unsure about the supply chain or allergen status of any product on your menu, it's always best to pause the sale of that item until you can confirm the details. Safety should always come first, both for you and your customers.

The FSA and the Broader Contamination Issue

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued an urgent warning about products that may contain mustard contaminated with peanuts. Mustard is commonly found in dips, sauces, salads, and pre-packed sandwiches. The contamination has been traced to a supplier in India, GT Agro Industries. It currently affects around 50 products in the UK, including popular brands like Domino's dips and SPAR sandwich fillers.

If a product contains mustard, it should be labelled in bold, and there may also be "may contain" warnings for mustard and other allergens.

The FSA works closely with suppliers and businesses to remove affected products from the market, ensuring that those with allergies remain protected. They have promised to keep consumers updated as more information becomes available.
