Stockport's very own Taylors have reason to celebrate as team member Jamie Toland has been honoured with the inaugural Employee of the Year award at the National Fish and Chip Awards. This new award category drew applications from the cream of the crop in the industry, culminating in a rigorous selection process. Judges narrowed the initial list of 10 outstanding candidates to four finalists, evaluating them on teamwork, impactful contributions to their businesses, and efforts to go above and beyond for their communities.
The final vote took place during a live ceremony on February 28 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, London, with industry specialists and media in attendance. Jamie emerged victorious after a tight competition with other noteworthy finalists. Sponsored by Premier Foods, this award recognises individual excellence and aims to inspire industry professionals to strive for greatness.
Andrew Crook, President of the National Federation of Fish Friers and awards organiser, expressed his admiration for Jamie's achievement, highlighting it as a significant moment for both the winner and the industry. Sarah Robb, Foodservice Marketing Manager at Premier Foods, echoed this sentiment, praising Jamie for his dedication and excitement for his future endeavours.
In recognition of his win, Jamie has been invited on a memorable trip to Norway, courtesy of Seafood from Norway. This two-day journey will offer an in-depth look at the Norwegian fishing industry, focusing on sustainable practices crucial for providing the UK's fish and chip shops with premium seafood. Participants will gain insights from industry leaders and learn about the journey of white fish from ocean to plate.
