The National Fish and Chip Awards has unveiled its top three contenders for the coveted Quality Accreditation Champion Award. These finalists, hailing from various parts of the UK, represent the best in the industry and are vying for the top spot in next month's highly anticipated awards ceremony.
To qualify for this esteemed award, fish and chip shops had to participate in the National Federation of Fish Friers' Fish & Chip Quality Accreditation Scheme, co-sponsored by Sarson's. This rigorous program assesses establishments against stringent quality standards, culminating in the 'Big Q' Quality Accreditation for those excelling in hygiene and the superior taste of their crispy, fluffy fish and chips.
This year's distinguished finalists, who have demonstrated exceptional standards in delivering top-quality fish and chips in clean and safe environments, include:
- French's Fish Shop in Wells-next-the-Sea, Norfolk
- Henley's of Wivenhoe in Wivenhoe, Essex
- Mike's Traditional Fish & Chips in Bishopstoke, Hampshire
All three have earned their spot at the prestigious award ceremony, set to take place on February 28 at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, London.
Andrew Crook, President of the National Federation of Fish Friers and the award's organiser, highlighted the importance of these awards in promoting excellence within the industry. "The Quality Accreditation Champion category represents the pinnacle of achievement. Our finalists not only offer exceptional taste but also demonstrate professionalism and a commitment to sustainable practices. We commend these businesses for maintaining such high standards," he remarked.
Sarson's, renowned for its iconic vinegar, and Mizkan, its parent company, are proud sponsors of this category. "Our iconic Sarson's vinegar is a staple in the fish and chip industry, and we're honoured to support Britain's best chippies in delivering quality with every portion served," stated Anant Mathur, channel controller at Mizkan.
