In collaboration with SSP, a leading global food travel business, Tortilla is set to open four new locations in UK transport hubs this year. As the UK's largest fast-casual Mexican restaurant brand, Tortilla currently boasts five successful sites with SSP, including a recent opening at Manchester Piccadilly train station in the first half of the prior year.

Franchise partnerships are integral to Tortilla's expansion strategy, with the brand recognizing transport hubs and similar locations as vital channels for reaching consumers. Tortilla's business model and concept are ideally tailored for franchising. Their straightforward kitchen setup facilitates easy replication, and a central production food model ensures consistent food quality. This approach also streamlines the training process for franchisees' employees.
Richard Morris, CEO of Tortilla, reflects on the partnership's success: "Our relationship with SSP has been hugely successful since we launched with them in 2019 at Euston station in London. While Covid inevitably impacted the rate at which we opened sites, we have since launched record-breaking sites in London Gatwick and Bristol Airport, as well as Leeds MSA and Manchester Piccadilly station. We are excited to continue our partnership with more UK travel locations and potential European equivalents over the coming years, given SSP's strong foothold across 37 countries globally."
Established by Brandon and Jen Stephens in October 2007, Tortilla has grown significantly, now operating over 85 dine-in and takeaway locations across the UK. The brand has formed national partnerships with SSP Group plc, Compass UK & Ireland, Growth Kitchens, and Karma Kitchens.
On the international front, Tortilla has made its mark in the Middle East with ten restaurants in Dubai and Saudi Arabia through an exclusive franchise partnership.
