​Kate Nicholls OBE Appointed as National Chair of the Institute of Licensing

The Institute of Licensing (IoL) is proud to announce the election of Kate Nicholls OBE as its new National Chair, starting 1st April 2024 along side her role as chair of UKHospitality. Alongside her, David Lucas steps in as Vice Chair, immediately joining Gary Grant in this role.

Succeeding Daniel Davies, who has led the IoL since January 2015, Nicholls will bring her vast experience to the forefront of the licensing industry. Under Davies' nine-year tenure, the IoL saw unprecedented growth, including enhancing its visibility in government circles, launching the LINK magazine, and expanding member benefits. His contributions have solidified the IoL's foundation for future growth.

David Lucas, now Vice Chair alongside Gary Grant, has been instrumental within the IoL, especially in stakeholder engagement through his roles in various national boards and committees related to licensing.

This leadership transition signals continued strong advocacy in licensing matters for IoL members. The IoL remains committed to excellence and effectiveness in the licensing system, which is crucial for members impacted by licensing regulations.

Kate Nicholls expressed enthusiasm for her new role, emphasising the importance of licensing in the hospitality industry and her aim to build on Daniel Davies' solid legacy.
