Pho Eyes National Growth After Stellar Year

Posted by News on 21st Feb 2024

Pho, the Vietnamese restaurant chain supported by TriSpan, is set to enhance its national presence by launching six to seven new locations this year, building on a 'strong' performance in 2023. Directed by Pat Marrinan, the group, now boasting 40 restaurants, plans to re-enter the Scottish market this spring with a new establishment in Glasgow. This move comes after its acclaimed introduction in Edinburgh's St James Quarter in 2022.

The Glasgow site, previously occupied by Moss Bros, is situated at the junction of Renfield Street and St Vincent Street, with an opening scheduled for March. Furthermore, Pho has secured a location on Baker Street, London, where the former Doner Shack stood, aiming for an April opening. The brand is also excited to announce the forthcoming launch of its 43rd restaurant in Norwich, located at 5 Queen Street, a site once home to RBS, set to open in early summer.

Pho has expanded its footprint across the UK in the past year alone, inaugurating six new venues in strategic locations, including Canary Wharf, London Bridge, Milton Keynes, Canterbury, Liverpool Castle Street, and Fulham Broadway. Despite economic challenges, the chain has enjoyed a significant increase in sales, reaching over £72m, up from £58m the previous year, and reported a 7.3% rise in like-for-like sales up to January 14, 2024.

Pat Marrinan expressed pride in the company's resilience and success amidst a challenging year for the restaurant industry, attributing their strong performance to effective management and strategic site openings. He looks forward to continuing Pho's growth trajectory over the next year.
